Old Master paintings, the hot buns of the TEFAF

Bloomberg reports that some dealers of contemporary art had cut their price by 20% and that the stable investment of an Old Master switches owners like hot buns.

Masterpieces by Peter Paul Rubens, Gabriel Mets, Sebastien Stoskopff and many more, which were sold, are presumed be a stable assets. Is it because they are priced realistically or are buyers relying more on the sound and stable price developments of these pieces ? Judging by the pessimistic sales of the contemporary art dealers, this may probably be concluded.

Despite the 15,908 visitors during the opening and the first official day and the 72 private jets that flew into Maastricht/Aachen airport, some dealers do not expect the frantic interaction as experienced during the auction of the Yves Saint Laurent collection in Paris last month.

Never the less spirits are high and apart from the dealers in contemporary art, exhibitors are not really unsatisfied up to now. Particularly the Old Master section of the fair is satisfied.
