PAN-Amsterdam, the national art and antique fairs of The Netherlands

From Sunday 22 November a record number of 137 art and antique dealers will exhibit  at PAN Amsterdam, the national contemporary art and antiques fair which runs until 29 November. Many dealers will present their collection in the form of special themes. Steltman the jewellers are sparing no expenses with an exhibition titled Coloured Stones. The highlight is a 41.50 carat spinal from Tanzania with an asking price of €1 million. Borzo Modern & Contemporary focuses on  New Realism and Pop Art from the 1960s. Galerie De Rijk has works of art by the Zero and Nul Movement. Leslie Smith Gallery is a first-time exhibitor with Aboriginal Art and Ariëns Kappers is turning the spotlight on a set of etchings by Johan Barthold Jongkind. Among the important items at the fair are a pair 1645 terrestrial and celestial globes by Willem Blaeu, once forming part of the collection of Prince Hans-Adam II of Liechtenstein. With a diameter of 68cm the largest of its kind, Inter-Antiquariaat Mefferdt & De Jonge asks €1.9 million.



New dealers
Twenty-three dealers are new to PAN Amsterdam. Nouvelles Images, one of the oldest art galleries in the Netherlands, makes its debut at this year. For the first time the fair will host four art and antique dealers from other countries, along with seven Flemish participants. Koetser, Zurich-Amsterdam, strengthens the fair with Dutch old masters. Luis Alegria, Porto will be reinforcing the Oriental art section with his speciality of Chinese export porcelain, as will Helena Markus, Milan, with antique Japanese room screens. Hidde van Seggelen from London, joins the modern art section with work of art by contemporary artists.

An art fair with many faces
Every year PAN Amsterdam attracts around 35,000 visitors. From young to old, from museums to private art-lovers, art consultants and interior designers. A variety of lectures, master classes and guided tours will take place during PAN.
