Beth Harris, currently Director of Digital Learning at the Museum of Modern Art, and Steven Zucker a specialist in 19th and 20th-century art and theory, are both the founding and managing editors of smARThistory.
For years they have been dissatisfied with the large and expensive art history textbooks. They found these sumptuously illustrated publications were difficult for many students to comprehend and were just not particularly engaging. And lastly they were of opinion that many of the publishers were not very creative in their approach of incorporating appropriate web resources.
Their findings and conclusions resulted in the idea of creating an alternative platform. And successfully they have been. They have managed to compose highly attractive and informative alternative called smARThistory, which covers over 200 works of art and 146 Podcast’s.
All in all more than worth a visit.
